In March 2018, Geoptis answered a call for projects launched by the Lyon Metropolitan Area as part of the Oxygène plan, in partnership with Atmo Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes (the regional air quality observatory) and the Caisse des Dépôts. Following the selection procedure, the subsidiary of La Poste was tasked with conducting a trial in the Lyon area.
The purpose of the call for projects is to put in place solutions that will change behaviour and pave the way for cutting pollutant emissions. Geoptis is to conduct a trial to measure air quality in the Lyon area in cooperation with Atmo Auvergne-Rhône-Alps (AuRA). Geoptis is developing innovative mobile data capture solutions. It is working on air quality with AtmoTrack, a start-up developing pollutant measurement sensors for onboard vehicle deployment. Jean-Baptiste Drechsler, CEO of Geoptis, talks about the company’s ambitions: “Our objective is to launch a new offering, an innovative agile, mobile solution to measure air quality, a solution that can be reproduced anywhere in France.”
For Claire Chappaz, Innovations and International Programmes Coordinator at Atmo Auvergne-Rhône-Alps: “Atmo AuRA was keen to be a partner in [R]Challenge. It will support Geoptis and AtmoTrack in developing a method to monitor air quality using mobile measurements. As part of the project, we will be providing measurement stations to calibrate the micro-sensors deployed on the fleet of La Poste vehicles. The data produced will be analysed and qualified for efficient use. Atmo AuRA will play the role of technical expert, conducting studies on how these data could be integrated for use by the Observatory.”
